How to clean 3D car mats

Short answer
You don't need to take Ottoman 3D car mats out to clean them. Vacuum the surface, then wipe it with a damp cloth. Spills bead on the coating, so wipe them up while they're fresh. For sticky dirt, use a little mild soap and water and dry it off. Skip bleach, solvents and stiff brushes.
The weekly routine (5 minutes)
- Vacuum the mats in place; the raised edge keeps sand and crumbs inside the tray.
- Wipe the surface with a damp microfibre cloth.
- Dry with a second cloth, especially the driver's mat under the pedals.
Spills: coffee, teh tarik, ice cream
Wipe them up as soon as you can. The coating makes liquids bead on top instead of soaking in, and the raised edge stops them running onto the car's carpet. A damp cloth usually takes everything off in one pass; for sugary drinks, follow with a cloth dampened with mild soapy water, then a clean damp cloth.
Mud and beach sand
Let wet mud dry, knock or vacuum it off, then wipe. Sand vacuums straight out of the tray. There is no need to hose or soak the mats.
What to avoid
- Bleach, thinner and other solvent cleaners: they can damage the coating, and chemical damage is not covered by the warranty.
- Stiff brushes and scouring pads on the leather surface.
- Leaving the mats wet for days: dry them after cleaning.
Taking the mats out (for a full car clean)
Lift each piece out, vacuum the car floor, then put the mats back in the shape of the footwell. They are cut for your car, so each piece only fits one way. No tools are needed.
